PORTLAND, OR, APRIL 18, 2015 – Ryan Asay of SBG Montana in Kalispell, MT and Hamilton Ash, head coach at SBG North in Whitefish, MT, competed in Rumble at the Roseland 81. The event – hosted by the Full Contact Fight Federation (FCFF) – featured 12 mixed martial arts (MMA) bouts and was held at the Roseland Theater in Portland, OR.
Ryan Asay was the 6th fight on the card in a feather-weight (145lbs) match up against Vancouver, WA’s Ricardo Martinez. The fighters exchanged strikes on their feet until Ryan secured a takedown mid-way through the first round. Once on the ground Ryan used his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills to quickly lock up an arm triangle choke that resulted in his opponent tapping out at the 1:55 mark in the first round.
Hamilton Ash fought in the co main event against Byran Nuro in his professional debut. He won the first round in impressive fashion and left no doubt in the judges’ minds when he secured a double leg takedown at the end of Round 1. The second round was much more competitive and the momentum swung in Nuro’s favor. Hamilton looked worn down in Round 3, but found the reserve to gut it out until the final bell. He lost by a unanimous decision 29-28 to Nuro, but came away more determined than ever to realize his dream of fighting in the UFC alongside fellow SBG fighters Conner McGregor, Gunnar Nelson, Aisling Daly, and Paddy Holohan.
Head Coach Travis Davison had this to say about his team, “I am really proud of my guys tonight in how they overcame adversity using focus, determination, and courage. Ryan continues to impress me with his improved striking and, although Hamilton lost tonight, I feel this fight will only make him better”.
